Kilifi, Kenya – The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued an urgent advisory warning of rough sea conditions along the Kenyan coast from Thursday, May 15, to Saturday, May 17, 2025. The alert, announced by the Kilifi Department of Special Programs and Disaster Management, urges fishermen and users of small vessels to avoid ocean activities during this period to ensure their safety.


According to the KMD forecast, turbulent seas are expected to pose significant risks to small boats and coastal operations. Authorities are advising the public to take the following precautions:
Refrain from launching small boats during the specified dates

Secure all boats and equipment along the shoreline to prevent damage or loss.
