Local leaders and safety experts are calling on young people to take up lifeguard training as a proactive step to reduce cases of drowning along the Coast.
With rising numbers of beachgoers and swimmers, especially during holidays and weekends, the need for skilled lifesavers has never been more urgent. By equipping youths with basic lifesaving and first aid skills, communities can respond faster to emergencies and save lives.
“Empowering our youth with lifeguard training not only creates job opportunities but also builds a safer, more responsible society,” said officials during a community safety forum.
Organizations and county authorities are now exploring ways to roll out free or subsidized training programs in high-risk areas.
